- Gum Disease can be reversed: If caught early, gum disease can actually be reversed through several methods. First, a dental hygienist will perform a scaling procedure. This entails lifting the gums and scraping away the plaque/bacteria that cause periodontal disease. This can be painful but it works. Then, diligent home care is needed to stave off pesky bacteria.
- If untreated you can lose your teeth: Gum disease is a serious condition that literally eats away at your teeth and gums.
