The Susan G Komen Phoenix Race to Battle Breast Cancer

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month – what will you do to bolster the fight against this devastating illness? If you haven’t made plans just yet, we have one suggestion: the Komen Phoenix Race for the Cure on October 12th, 2014.susan g komen race in phoenix 2014

Whether you’re participating in the race or simply want to volunteer, there’s plenty of great ways to get involved. The Susan G. Komen Phoenix Race for the Cure is the signature fundraising event for the Komen Central and Northern Arizona (Komen CAN AZ). This is a great opportunity to save lives and help put a stop to breast cancer forever.

Interested in giving the ol’ ticker a little workout? Many runners will be happy to learn that the race will take place in beautiful Downtown Phoenix at Cesar Chavez Plaza. Competitors, take note – competitive timing for all events is back. You can register as a Timed Adult, Youth, or Breast Cancer Survivor, see your official time after crossing the finish line. If you’re looking for a little less competition, you can register multiple friends and family as a team!

Want to help plan one of the largest events in Arizona? You don’t have to be an athlete to make a difference, volunteering is easy and tons of fun. There are several key needs according to the 2014 Race Committee, including the following sub-committees: race day entertainment, Kids for the Cure and the Race Day Kids Area, Race Operations, Teaming up for the Cure – recruiting/coaching Teams, and plenty more.

Of course, the most critical component of this monumental event is the actual fundraising – we need help here too to make the biggest impact possible. Get started in the Participant Center and start earning rewards for your fundraising efforts. Top fundraiser will win roundtrip airfare on American Airlines or American Eagle to any destination in the contiguous US!

Let’s make 2014 the year we turn the tide against breast cancer once and for all.
