Food to Eat Following Dental Surgery

Are you recovering from oral surgery? One of the trickiest parts throughout the healing process pertains to your diet – what exactly should you be eating to minimize pain and avoid interfering with your recovery?

Grab your cutlery – we can help make this transition as painless (and delicious) as possible.

Immediately Following Surgery

The last thing on your mind immediately following dental surgery is probably where to grab a bite to eat, although that timeless conundrum will inevitably rear its head. If you’re worried about keeping your stomach happy, your first priority should always be the road to recovery.

Take it easy following surgery – this is your excuse to kick up your heels and binge watch a reliable Netflix series. Grab a cold pack out of the freezer and apply it to your face for 15 minutes on/off – this will help a lot with uncomfortable swelling.

After the bleeding in your mouth has subsided, congratulations – you’ve officially opened the door to soft foods! Wahoo!

What’s On the Menu?

Soft foods will be your best friend in the days to come – embrace them! Here’s a list of ready-made foods you can pull off the shelf and sate your (occasionally ferocious) appetite …

  • Smoothies and fresh juices
  • Yogurt
  • Applesauce
  • Bananas
  • Macaroni and Cheese
  • Lukewarm Soup
  • Mashed potatoes (or mashed cauliflower for a low-carb option)
  • Jell-O
  • Eggs
  • Noodles

These items should more than likely jog your creativity in terms of what else is appropriate for a post-surgery meal. Love to spend time in the kitchen? There are plenty of awesome recipes to suit your needs. Here are a few of our favorites …
